Der amerikanische Fernsehprogrammanbieter HBO strahlt im April 2018 die zweiteilige Dokumentation “Elvis Presley – The Searcher” aus.
In der dreistündigen Sendung werden über 20 bisher unveröffentlichte Interviews mit Musiker und Freunden gezeigt, die Elvis Presley sehr nahe standen. Ausserdem sind noch nie gezeigte Fotos- und Videoaufnahmen aus privaten Sammlungen zu sehen.
“The Searcher” erzählt von der Jugend des “King of Rock’n’Roll” bis hin zu seinen letzten Studio Sessions im legendären “Jungle Room”.

Die Dokumentation wurde von Bruce Springsteens Manager Jon Landau produziert. Regie führte übrigens Thom Zimny, der bereits die Bruce Springsteen Konzertfilme “Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band: The River Tour, Tempe 1980” (2015), “Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band: Born in the USA Live” (2014), “Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band: London Calling – Live in Hyde Park” (2010), “Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band: Hammersmith Odeon, London ’75” (2005) inszenierte.

Darüber hinaus zeigte sich Thom Zimny auch für die Dokumentationen “The Promise: The Making of Darkness on the Edge of Town” (2010), “Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band Houston ’78 Bootleg: House Cut” (2010), “Bruce Springsteen: A Conversation with His Fans” (2011), “Bruce Springsteen’s High Hopes” (2014), “The Ties That Bind” (2015) sowie den Kurzfilm “Hunter of Invisible Game” (2014) als Regisseur verantwortlich.
